Sejarah Besar adalah sebuah disiplin akademik yang menelaah sejarah dari Dentuman Besar hingga masa kini. Sejarah Besar menolak spesialisasi dan menelaah pola atau tren universal. Bidang ini mengkaji jangka waktu panjang menggunakan pendekatan multidisipliner bedasarkan penggabungan berbagai disiplin ilmu dari sains hinga kemanusiaan.[1][2][3] Disiplin ini menjelajah keberadaan manusia dalam konteks gambaran besar ini.[4] Sejarah Besar mengintegrasikan studi angkasa, Bumi, kehidupan dan kemanusiaan menggunakan bukti empiris untuk menjelajah hubungan-hubungan sebab-akibat.[5][6] Bidang ini diajarkan di universitas-universitas,[7] begitu juga pada sekolah dasar dan menengah[8][9] umumnya menggunakan presentasi berbasis-web interaktif.[10][11][12]
Sejarawan David Christian dianggap sebagai orang pertama yang menciptakan istilah "Sejarah Besar" saat mengisi kuliah-kuliah pertama mengenai bidang ini di Universitas Macquarie.[5][7][13] Sebuah studi yang mencakup semua hubungan manusia dengan kosmologi[14] dan sejarah alam[15] telah ditelaah oleh ahli-ahli sejak masa Renaisans. Sejarah Besar berperan untuk melanjutkan hal tersebut.
